Table Française
- Coordinator: JoAnna Watson
Adults who enjoy the French language and culture, who
want to meet other people who enjoy speaking French,
eating French food and sipping French wine should join
us. For one hour each month, we will enhance our love
of all things French through conversation, presentations
and of course, hors d’oeuvres! Participants should
have at least a tourist’s understanding of French.

England Sculptors Association, Art Exhibit and
Sale July 2-27.
Free and open to the public. The New England
Sculptors Association, organized in 1948 and
one of the oldest sculptors associations in
the United States , represents a diverse membership
of nationally and regionally recognized sculptors.
NESA members work and show throughout the world,
and are represented in numerous private and
museum collections. With approximately 120 current
members, NESA eagerly reaches out to aspiring
as well as established sculptors. Its members
are selected by jury and work in a variety of

of the New Enlightenment Institute for the
Preservation and Advancement of Civil Democracy.
Held on the second Monday of each month at
7 pm. Tom Gotsill, director of the Institute,
created Cape Lyceum as "a non-partisan
event which gives citizens an opportunity
to engage with fellow citizens around intellectually
and morally serious topics. We intend for
it to be a home for truly civil discourse
about ideas that matter to democratic people."

disturbing issues surrounding the rapidly
increasing corporate domination of our food

rise of unlabelled, genetic engineered foods,
and the complex implications of untested crops
on the environment and on the consumers. Garcia's

Steve Gregory, Eileen Fendler and Chip Anzola
are seasoned musicians who have come together
to celebrate their love for music that is

and The Cape Tradition

Heaton, on guitar and flute, offer an appealing
mix of traditional Irish and original music:
passionate vocals, stunning flute- and guitar-based
instrumentals, and a playful yet authoritative
presence onstage. With the reverence for tradition
that purists crave, and the timeless stories
and stirring melodies that song-lovers adore,
the Heatons offer a show rich in variety and
emotion. Local music group "The Cape
Tradition" will play a few selections

Violinist Kim Angelis, in Concert

the passionate, gypsy-inspired music of Kim
Angelis on Network TV, PBS, NPR, or during
the 2000 Olympics in Sydney , Australia ,
when world champion gymnast Kui Yuanyuan of
China used music by Kim Angelis for her floor
exercise. The independent film, Sweet Nothings,
released in Feb. 2001, exclusively features
music by Kim Angelis, which was nominated
for Best Original Score by the California
Independent Film Society; the same film was
also nominated for Best Score by the International
Independent Film Tour. Her 1996 CD, Esperanza,
was selected as a “Choice Recording”
by prestigious Strings magazine, and it received
a nomination by Just Plain Folks for Best
Instrumental Album! Kim’s most recent
CD, Gypsy’s Odyssey, has increased her
international fan base with radio airplay
in Europe and Australia . This same CD has
made “Top Ten” lists in places
as diverse as Santa Cruz , CA , and Herford
, Germany ! Don't miss her performance at
the Cultural Center of Cape Cod.

in Progress” Festival

A festival showcasing a wide range of local
artists and artisans at work in the Cultural
Center galleries while exhibits are on the
walls. Participants may include visual artists,
weavers, potters, jewelry makers, basket makers,
wood carvers, bird carvers, and sculptors.
They will be making art all over the building,
available to speak with visitors. Their work
will also be on sale.

extravaganza by the Hyannis Garden Club will transform
the Cultural Center of Cape Cod into a magical and majestic
home for the Christmas season, each room decorated with
gorgeous bouquets in beautifully designed settings.
$15 in advance, $20 at the door. (The Center will be
closed on Nov. 12-13 to set up the show.) More details

Give Thanks for Jazz! A Concert by Six Great Jazz Artists

Jazz Drummer & Band Leader Bart Weisman presents a concert of male jazz singers: Boston’s Dane Vannatter; Berklee instructor Steve Wark, whose style is reminiscent of Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, and Michael Buble; and Washington, DC, vocalist Reggie Moore, a member of The Persuasions, a male vocal group which tours the world. All three will be backed by Fred Boyle on piano, Chris Rathbun on bass, and Bart Weisman on drums. Don’t miss this great event!
