“Ice-ing on the Cape”: A Competition and
Juried Exhibit for Cape Artists
THE COMPETITION
Artists who reside on Cape Cod are invited to submit
up to three original works (painting, drawing, and/or
photography) to be considered for
1)
use on the 2008 holiday greeting card of the Cape Cod
Chamber of Commerce
2) inclusion in a 2-week exhibit/sale at the Cultural
Center of Cape
3) use on the 2008 holiday greeting cards of other participating
Cape businesses
DEADLINE AND FEE
All images must be received with fee by October 1st.
The entry fee is $10 for one piece, $15 for two, $20
for three. Checks should be made payable to the Cultural
Center of Cape Cod. Submissions may be made in person
to 307 Old Main St., South Yarmouth, or by mail to PO
Box 118, South Yarmouth, MA 02664.
SUBMISSION SPECS
Images should be sent on disc. High-resolution (300
dpi) jpegs are recommended. (If artists need help preparing
their submissions on disc, they should contact the Cultural
Center.) Submission information should include the full
name of the artist and the title, medium, size, and
price (for use at the exhibit/sale) of each work.
PRIZES
Winners of the competition will be announced by mid-October.
The grand prize winner will receive $400 plus one-year
memberships to the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce and
the Cultural Center of Cape Cod. The number of winners
and size of prizes beyond that will depend upon the
interest by other Cape businesses in the lottery for
holiday card images. Acceptance of a prize grants one-time
rights for the winning image to be reproduced on 2008
holiday cards issued by the Chamber of Commerce or another
participating business. The artist retains ownership
of the original artwork, which may then be offered for
sale at the Cultural Center exhibit in November.
JURIED EXHIBIT
The Cultural Center will jury the exhibit and reserves
the right to exclude work for any reason. The exhibit/sale
at the Cultural Center will be held in the Great Hall
and Blue Room galleries from November 19-30. The Cultural
Center will collect a 40% commission on all sales. There
will be an opening reception on November 21 from 6-9
pm. All artists are encouraged to attend.
