An exhibition “creating together”

An exhibition of long-time “regulars” in Susan Overstreet’s classes and open studio sessions. “Creating art is one of the greatest joys that life offers and mentoring others in this practice brings ever more inspiration and satisfaction. Nurturing the creative drive in others and developing curriculum to guide artists to find what Robert Henri called ‘the state of being,” is my objective. Henri stated ‘It is not enough to have thought great things before doing the work. The brush stroke at the moment of contact carries
inevitably the exact state of being of the artist at that exact moment into the work, and, there it is, to be seen and read by those who can read such signs, and to be read later by the artist himself, with perhaps some surprise, as a revelation of himself.’ It is an honor to have many former art majors, professional artists, and those who are passionate about creating attend class. It is a joyful, motivated, talented and supportive community. Nothing is more exciting than to see someone share a “breakthrough” moment while creating together.”
